About Christine...

Christine has been involved in dog sports for over 13 years. It all started with wanting to have that dog that wasn’t allowed when she was growing up. So her first dog came on the scene and changed her life. Skimo was a Shepherd / Husky cross. After going as far as possible in obedience classes and not being able to go further as he wasn’t a purebred, Christine went searching for a more open venue for the mixed breed dog. As with many others, she’s never looked back. Amazingly she started him in Flyball where he did well, and can remember to this day saying, “Oh, he’ll never do agility…he doesn’t listen well enough!” After being convinced to give it a go it’s been a wonderful journey. Skimo proceeded to get his Masters Agility Dog of Canada as well as his Flyball Dog Champion – Silver titles.

After Skimo had started Christine soon got her next dog Quinn who is a Malinios / Border Collie cross. She likes to refer to Quinn as her teaching / learning dog. Since Quinn was a constant source of challenges ranging from over-hyperness when young, dominance & aggression when puberty hit and a great fear of the dreaded teeter and any other loud noise! Each challenge was worked through and due to this Christine has been given the opportunity to investigate many different training methods. Through all of this Quinn has earned his Agility Trial Champion, Bronze Award of Merit, Steeplechase title and Flyball Master Champion. He has also placed 4th at the 2003 National Championships in the 22” Vets. He was the 2004 BC/Yukon Regional Champion (22” Vets) and the 6th place winner in the 2006 BC/Yukon Regional Championships (16” Vets).

The next dog on the scene is Kozmo who is an Australian Shepherd. Christine and Kozmo currently compete at the Masters level and have to date achieved their Agility Trial Champion, Silver Award of Merit, Steeplechase title and Flyball Dog Champion – Silver. They have also competed at the Regional and National Level and in 2006 came 5th at the National Championships (22” Specials) and also placed 5th at the BC/Yukon Regionals (22” Specials) in 2007.

During all this Christine became an AAC judge in 2003 and upgraded to a Masters level judge in 2005. She has been teaching beginner, intermediate and Advanced level classes for approx. 8 years. She has also had the opportunity to run some other dogs that she didn’t own, one being a Maltese and the other a Sheltie/Border Collie cross. Some other dog sports have rounded out her experiences, such as Drill Team and recently she’s begun learning about sheep herding with Kozmo in anticipation of the next puppy (Working Kelpie)!
