About Julia...
Julia Sutherland is the proud owner of the Superfly Canine Agility Club in North Vancouver, BC. Julia opened the training club in July 2002 and has had the great pleasure of teaching people and their canine friends the joys of agility training ever since.
Her teaching experience comes from her seven years as a Martial Arts Instructor. Working as an Instructor at the Clarke's Martial Arts Academy enabled Julia to develop great confidence, patience and enthusiasm while teaching both children and adults. During her wonderful job at the Martial Arts Academy, Julia was adopted by her first dog, Sophia - a feisty pit bull, lab X. One of the many things that Sophia taught Julia was that obedience training was an absolute necessity! Working with Sophie proved to be so rewarding that Julia signed up at the North Shore Canine Training Academy to become a canine obedience trainer herself. After two years of schooling Julia earned her Diploma as a Certified Obedience Instructor. During this time Julia and Sophie had started playing in agility and tried out several different schools to learn more about the great canine sport. Julia's obedience classes started to include some jumps and tunnels just for fun and the response was overwhelming - there was a great need for agility in North Van! The Club started with two classes full of friends who were interested in doing Agility for some fun with their dogs and we haven't looked back since! Julia has competed with Sophia, her Pit/Lab x, her Miniature Pincher, Spike and had some fun with her Rottweiler and Border Collie before they had to be pulled for health issues. Sophie is now retired at 13 years of age and has achieved her ADC, SGDC, VAADC, VAGDC and VMADC. Spike retired last year at 8 years of age due to a delicate back - he has achieved his SADC and SSGDC.
Julia is now working with her 2 year old, big nosed German Shepherd, Caesar who has already achieved his SSGDC. Julia became a Certified AAC Judge in 2007.
Julia was asked to instruct classes at the Q-Ball Agility Club in September of 2008 and is delighted to be part of this team!
